About this vacancy
The Ministry of Railways, Government of Pakistan, intends to hire a suitable professional to serve as Advisor in MP-I scale at the Ministry of Railways, Islamabad. The Advisor oversees the technical affairs of Pakistan Railways, supports implementation across the railway system and provides strategic and technical advice on railway policy, planning and development. Appointment is on contract under the Updated MP Scales Policy issued by the Establishment Division. Shortlisting is scored out of 100 marks: 50 for education (foreign PhD 15, foreign Master's 12, local PhD 13, local Master's 10) and 50 for experience (18 years or more 15, under 18 years 12, public sector 13, private sector 10). Only shortlisted candidates are called for interview.
Duties and responsibilities
- Oversee technical matters of Pakistan Railways
- Support implementation of technical affairs across the Pakistan Railways system
- Provide strategic and technical advice on railway policies, planning and development
- Any other related task assigned by the Ministry of Railways
Eligibility criteria
- Master's or PhD - PhD, Masters, recognised by HEC
- PhD or Master's degree in a relevant subject from an HEC recognized university
- Foreign qualifications and public sector experience carry higher shortlisting weight
- Substantial professional experience, with maximum weight for 18 years or more
Experience required
- Professional experience is scored out of 50 in shortlisting: 15 marks for 18 years or more, 12 marks for under 18 years, plus 13 marks for public sector experience or 10 marks for private sector experience. The advertisement does not state a hard minimum number of years.
