Balochistan advertises across the education, health, home and police, local government, irrigation, agriculture and livestock, and communication and works departments, along with universities, development authorities and programme offices. Because the province is the largest in area and the most thinly populated, many advertisements are district-specific and intended to staff offices and facilities in the district the candidate comes from.

Regular posts from the middle grades upward go through the Balochistan Public Service Commission, which advertises on behalf of provincial departments rather than employing anyone itself. Departments recruit directly for lower grades and for project posts, sometimes using a testing service for screening. Because postings can be remote, a number of advertisements attach hard-area or special allowances, and those are stated in the advertisement rather than implied by the grade.

District-wise quotas are applied more strictly in Balochistan than in most provinces, and Balochistan domicile with the correct district is usually the first thing checked at scrutiny. Age limits are counted on the closing date, with relaxation only where the provincial rules provide for it. Where a post is reserved for a particular district, gender or category, the advertisement states it, and an application that misses the condition is normally rejected before merit is considered.
