Senior Registrar (Oncology)
Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department • via PPSC
8 vacancies open for applications. Medical Officer, Consultant, Specialist and health posts.
Medical vacancies come from the provincial health departments - in Punjab, Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, and elsewhere the province's own health department - along with teaching hospitals, medical institutes and autonomous health bodies. Some Medical Officer cadres are filled through a public service commission, while hospitals and institutes frequently recruit directly. A large share of posts are advertised on contract or ad-hoc terms rather than as regular, pensionable appointments.
A Medical Officer post requires MBBS with current registration with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, and almost always a completed one-year house job. Specialist and consultant posts add a recognised postgraduate qualification - FCPS, MS, MD or an equivalent fellowship - and a stated number of years of experience after it. Allied health cadres in pharmacy, physiotherapy, laboratory and radiology have their own councils and their own registration requirements, which are checked the same way.
Selection is more often by interview against academic merit and experience than by written test, though commissions do set a paper for some cadres. Medical Officers are normally appointed in BPS-17 and specialists from BPS-18 upward, with allowances that vary by hospital and by province. Where a post is reserved for women, restricted by domicile, or tied to a particular district, the advertisement states it - and those conditions are applied at scrutiny, before anything is read on merit.
