Accounts and Finance Jobs in Pakistan

2 vacancies open for applications. Accountant, Auditor, Accounts Officer and finance posts.

How accounts, audit and finance posts are filled

Accounts and audit vacancies come from the Auditor General of Pakistan and the Accountant General offices, the Pakistan Military Accounts Department, the federal and provincial finance departments, the Federal Board of Revenue and the provincial revenue authorities, and the accounts wings of individual departments, authorities and public companies. Federal cadres are typically advertised through the Federal Public Service Commission; provincial and departmental posts through a provincial commission or directly.

Requirements vary with the cadre. Junior Auditor and Accounts Clerk posts usually ask for a Bachelor's degree, often B.Com or a commerce subject, sometimes with a typing or computer test. Accounts Officer and Assistant Director (Audit) posts ask for a Master's, MBA in finance, or a professional qualification - ACCA, ACMA, or CA with stages completed. Internal audit and treasury posts frequently add years of experience with government accounting rules and the relevant financial regulations.

Selection almost always includes a written paper weighted towards accounting, audit and the applicable financial rules, followed by an interview. Junior cadres sit in the middle Basic Pay Scales, with officer cadres from BPS-17 upward. Departmental examinations exist for progression within the accounts services once appointed, which is worth knowing before you compare a junior accounts post with an apparently better-paid contract role elsewhere.
