Applying through the Punjab Public Service Commission

The Punjab Public Service Commission recruits on behalf of the Government of Punjab. It does not employ anyone itself, which is why a PPSC advertisement always names the department the post belongs to - Health, School Education, Irrigation, Board of Revenue and so on. Most regular, pensionable posts from the middle Basic Pay Scales upward are filled this way, alongside the Provincial Management Service, which is recruited through a separate combined competitive examination rather than a single paper.

Applications are submitted online through the Commission's own website. The fee is paid by challan at a designated bank and the deposit slip details are entered on the form; nothing is accepted by post or by hand unless the advertisement specifically says so. Every advertisement carries its own case number, and that number is what you quote at each later stage. Eligibility is assessed as at the closing date, so a qualification or an age that changes afterwards does not count.

Most posts are decided by a one-paper objective test followed by an interview. The Commission publishes the test date, roll number slips, answer keys and the final merit list on the same website, so check it rather than waiting to be contacted - candidates are not chased. Punjab domicile is required for almost every post, and age relaxation applies only where the Punjab government's own rules provide for it. It is never automatic and never assumed.
