Lead development of the National Data Strategy and data governance capabilities for secure, responsible data use, and build stewardship arrangements that respect the responsibilities of designated data custodians.
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead the National Data Strategy and related governance frameworks, turning priorities into policies, standards and adoption plans
- Define data ownership, stewardship, classification, quality, metadata, lineage, retention and lifecycle standards
- Coordinate with ministries, provinces, regulators and custodians on secure data sharing and interoperability
- Work with DPI and technology leaders on data exchange requirements, reference architectures and shared registries
- Develop proposals for open data, controlled access, sensitive data handling and cross-border arrangements
- Partner with the AI Office on data readiness, provenance and quality for AI datasets
- Build the data governance team and capability including maturity assessments and reporting
Eligibility criteria
- Bachelor's or Master's - Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Public Policy or related discipline; relevant Master's preferred, in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, recognised by HEC
- Senior leadership experience
Experience required
- Required experience: At least 15 years
- 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in data governance, architecture, strategy or transformation including senior leadership
