Information Technology Officer (SOC)

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is hiring two Information Technology Officers (SOC) on contract, posted in Islamabad or anywhere in Pakistan. The post is offered at Executive Grade I and works in a 24x7 shift-based security operations environment. It requires a degree in electrical or electronics engineering, computer science, software, telecom or cyber security with 2 to 4 years of post qualification experience.

• Correlate events across SIEM, EDR/XDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, DNS, proxy, authentication, email and network traffic
• Conduct root-cause analysis and identify indicators of compromise and attacker techniques
• Use MITRE ATT&CK to identify adversary behaviors and develop hunting scenarios
• Conduct proactive and hypothesis-driven threat hunting
• Analyze and operationalize Cyber Threat Intelligence and develop threat intelligence reports
• Track threat actors, malware families, vulnerabilities, campaigns and emerging TTPs
• Develop, fine-tune and optimize SIEM correlation rules and detection use cases

• Bachelor's or Master's - Master of Sciences (18 Years), Bachelor's Degree (16 Years), in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Telecom Engineering, Cyber Security, recognised by HEC, PEC
• MS (18 years) with 2 years experience OR BS (16 years) with 4 years experience in a relevant discipline
• Ability to work in a 24x7 shift-based environment
• Preferred: Certifications such as CompTIA CySA+, EC Council CSA, EC Council CIH, GIAC GCIH
• Preferred: Experience in a CERT/CSIRT/SOC environment in Government, Telecom or large enterprise
• Preferred: SIEM platforms such as Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm or Elastic
• Preferred: SOAR platforms for automated incident response
• Preferred: Hands-on malware analysis
• Preferred: Strong analytical, documentation and report-writing skills

• Required experience: At least 2 years
• Master of Sciences (18 Years) in relevant discipline with 02 years post qualification relevant experience, OR Bachelor Degree (16 Years) in relevant discipline with 04 years post qualification relevant experience.

• All candidates: 18 – 40 years
