Legal Expert at the Artificial Intelligence Delivery Unit, providing contract, data-protection and procurement legal advisory.
Duties and responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate and advise on contracts, MoUs, outsourced development agreements, vendor contracts and other legal instruments, protecting Government interests in intellectual property, data ownership, confidentiality, liability and pricing
- Review and advise on data governance policies, data-sharing arrangements, consent mechanisms, privacy notices and compliance with data protection, privacy and citizen-rights requirements including the right to explanation, human review and correction of inaccurate data
- Review and provide legal input on AI governance policies, ethical guidelines, risk management frameworks and internal compliance procedures
- Provide legal support to procurement by reviewing bidding documents, tender documents, RFPs, evaluation reports and contract documents under PPRA Rules and donor procurement requirements
- Advise the Head of Responsible AI & Compliance on legal and regulatory matters relating to the Policy for AI in Punjab, the mandate of the Provincial AI Authority and emerging AI legislation
- Identify, monitor and manage legal and regulatory risks by maintaining legal risk registers and supporting responses to legal, regulatory, compliance and audit observations
Eligibility criteria
- Bachelor's or Master's - LLB/LLM (16 years of education) from an HEC-recognized university, in Law, recognised by HEC
- Preference would be given to foreign qualified candidates with proven track record
- Contract drafting and negotiation
- Public procurement law (PPRA) familiarity
- Regulatory and compliance advisory
- Risk identification and mitigation
Experience required
- Required experience: At least 10 years
- At least 10 years of legal practice, including experience in technology/data-protection law, government contracting or public sector legal advisory
- Experience accepted from: Public Sector Organizations, Private Sector Organizations
