Frontier Works Organization (FWO) is hiring a Manager Geologist Drilling in Nokundi, District Chagai, Balochistan. The main duty of the post is to supervise geological activities at core drilling sites and coordinate with drilling crews. The post requires MS/ BS in Geology / Geology Engineering / Earth Sciences with at least 5 years of experience.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supervise geological activities at core drilling sites and coordinate with drilling crews
- Monitor drilling progress, borehole depth, core recovery, RQD and geological conditions
- Monitor and report difficult drilling conditions, including fractured/sheared ground, fault zones, core loss, fluid loss, cavities, hole collapse and stuck drill strings
- Record lithology, geological contacts, textures, alteration, weathering, veining, brecciation, fractures, faults and shear zones
- Identify and document base-metal mineralization and sulphide assemblages, including chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, molybdenite and associated minerals
- Characterize hydrothermal alteration including potassic, phyllic, propylitic, argillic alteration and silicification
- Record core recovery and RQD and maintain standardized geological codes
- Define geological sample intervals and supervise core cutting, sampling, labeling, bagging and dispatch
- Review assay results and correlate analytical results with geological observations
- Conduct or supervise core orientation and structural logging
- Record fractures, veins, faults, shear zones and other structural features
- Coordinate and review downhole gyro/magnetic deviation surveys
- Assist in drill-hole planning, target evaluation, collar selection, azimuth/dip determination and target depth
- Provide geological input for infill, step-out and follow-up drilling
- Maintain accurate drill-hole geological databases, sample registers and assay records
- Assist with geological sections, mineralized-zone interpretation and drill-hole summaries
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly geological/drilling reports
- Coordinate with exploration geologists, drilling contractors, surveyors, geological technicians and other field personnel
Eligibility criteria
- Bachelor's or Master's - MS Geology, BS Geology, Geology Engineering, Earth Sciences, in Geology, Geological Engineering, Earth Sciences
- Education: MS/ BS in Geology / Geology Engineering / Earth Sciences
- Core logging and sampling for Base Metal deposits
- Understanding of various mineral deposits
- Fieldwork experience in remote or mountainous terrain
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to safety and environmental protocols
- Core recovery percentage and data accuracy
- Timely completion of drill holes and logging
- QA/QC compliance and data reliability
Experience required
- Required experience: 5 – 7 years
- Min 5-7 Yrs post qual experience.
