The date your age is counted on

The closing date of the advertisement (for PMS 2026: 01-01-2026).

An upper limit of N years means you must not have reached your Nth birthday on the date age is counted. Turning N on that very date makes you over-age by one day.

General age relaxation

There is no automatic general relaxation in KP. A general candidate can be granted 2, 5 or 10 years case by case, by an order made before the interview.

Age relaxations under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rules

One category only; the 3 years for backward areas can be added to one other relaxation.

  • Government servants: up to 10 years. Two years' continuous service.
  • Candidates from the backward areas listed in the rules: 3 years.
  • Persons with disabilities, widows and divorced women: 10 years. Proof: The death or divorce certificate and a certificate of not having remarried; a disability certificate.
  • Candidates from minorities: 5 years.
  • Employees of KP development projects (or federal projects under KP): years of service taken off your age (at most 10 years). The period served, 10 years at most.
  • The widow, son or daughter of a civil servant who died in a terrorist attack: at the authority's discretion (not automatic). At the appointing authority's discretion.
  • General candidates, case by case: up to 10 years (not automatic). BPS-17 and above: 2 years by the Administrative Secretary, 5 by the Secretary Establishment, 10 by the Chief Secretary. Strong reasons needed; the order must be made before the interview.
  • For PMS (BS-17) and Civil Judge examinations: government servants with two years' service, persons with disabilities, and candidates from backward areas: 2 years (only for Competitive examinations).
  • Every candidate for PMS 2025 and 2026: upper limit 35 (only for PMS examinations of 2025 and 2026). Upper limit 35 instead of 30; four attempts.

Not confirmed from an official source

We could not confirm these from an official document, so the calculator does not rely on them. Check the advertisement.

  • The 5 years for minorities is printed in KPPSC adverts; the notification behind it was not seen.

How it works

  1. Enter your date of birth and the closing date of the KPPSC advertisement.
  2. Enter the upper age limit from the advertisement. KP has no automatic general relaxation, so it is not added unless the advertisement says so.
  3. Tick any relaxation that applies to you: one category relaxation, plus 3 years for a backward area where that applies.
  4. You see your exact age on the closing date and each step of the working.

Common mistakes

  • Counting your age on the day the advertisement was published. Age is reckoned on the closing date for applications unless the advertisement names another date.
  • Using a different date of birth from the one on your Matric certificate and CNIC. Recruiters go by your documents; if they differ, sort that out first.
  • Adding the general relaxation yourself when the advertisement says the age limit already includes it. It is then counted only once.
  • Assuming a relaxation applies without the proof. A relaxation that is not proved with the document the advertisement asks for is refused at scrutiny.

Frequently asked questions

Is there automatic general age relaxation in KP?

No. Under the KP rules a general candidate can be granted 2, 5 or 10 years case by case, by an order made before the interview. Government servants, persons with disabilities, widows and divorced women get up to 10 years without an order.

What is the PMS age limit for 2025 and 2026?

35 years for every candidate (raised from 30) for the PMS examinations of 2025 and 2026, with four attempts, as KPPSC's PMS advertisement states.
