When PPSC checks your documents

PPSC judges age, qualification, experience and every other credential as it stood on the closing date. You sit the test and are called to interview provisionally; the documents are checked at the interview, and a candidate found ineligible then is rejected.

  • Posts up to BS-18: bring the originals and two sets of photocopies when you are called for interview.
  • BS-19 and BS-20: two attested sets of the required documents, with a printed copy of the online form, by the closing date.
  • Posts filled by interview alone: PPSC may ask by SMS or email for one set within 7 days - missing that is treated as rejection.
  • A document missing at the interview: sign an undertaking and produce it within the time set (up to 10 working days in PPSC's FAQ), or the candidature is cancelled.

What to bring to a PPSC interview

PPSC's FAQ and its eligibility criteria for each post list the originals checked at the interview:

  • Your original CNIC - valid, and in PPSC's per-post criteria not expired on the last day for applying - and the interview call-up letter.
  • Matric certificate showing your date of birth and marks, and the Intermediate certificate with marks.
  • Every degree with its transcript or DMCs showing marks obtained and total marks - or a percentage certificate from the Controller of Examinations. CGPA alone is not accepted.
  • Domicile of the Punjab district you gave in your form.
  • Experience certificates on form PPSC-6, with proof of registration for any private employer.
  • Departmental permission on form PPSC-5, if you are a government employee.
  • Medical certificate, if the post has physical standards; disability certificate, if you claim the quota.
  • Equivalence certificate for a foreign or equivalent qualification, and registration with PMDC, PEC, PNC or another council where the post needs it.

Domicile at PPSC

PPSC wants a domicile of the relevant Punjab district issued on or before the closing date. It is also the one commission that publishes a concession: if you applied for the domicile before the closing date and can show documentary proof, a domicile issued after the closing date is accepted - and in the online form you give the date you applied instead of the issue date. A candidate who applied only after the closing date is not eligible.

Some posts' own eligibility criteria print only "issued on or before the closing date", so read the criteria PPSC publishes for your case number too.

  • The domicile must be of the same district you entered in the online form, or the application is rejected.
  • A married woman may apply on her husband's district of domicile until she gets her own, with his domicile certificate and proof of marriage. PPSC's FAQ also asks for her own earlier domicile and says a woman without one is not eligible; the newer Important Instructions do not repeat that.
  • A permanent resident of Azad Kashmir is treated as resident of the Punjab district where he or she lives now, with a domicile of that district.
  • A lost domicile can be replaced by a duplicate that shows the original issue date - which must be on or before the closing date.

Marks, equivalence and registration

PPSC wants marks obtained and total marks, or a percentage certificate, for all degrees, issued by the university's Controller of Examinations. A transcript with only a CGPA is not accepted - ask your examinations office for the marks certificate well before the interview.

Only qualifications in the advertisement and the service rules count. Foreign degrees count only from universities recognised by HEC, PMDC, PEC, PNC, IBCC or another competent body. If you claim equivalence, produce the equivalence certificate at the interview or whenever PPSC asks; without it the candidature is cancelled. For O and A levels, PPSC's criteria list the IBCC equivalence certificate.

Where a post needs registration with a council, PPSC's current advertisement asks that you have obtained or applied for it on or before the closing date, and show it at the interview.

Experience at PPSC

PPSC accepts experience only when it was gained after the prescribed qualification, up to the closing date, certified by the appointing authority for government service; contract or ad-hoc service counts with the appointment letters. Internships, training, honorary, daily-wage, part-time and visiting work do not count.

Private-sector experience counts only if the firm was registered with SECP, the Registrar of Firms or another regulator for the whole period, with proof shown at the interview - otherwise the application is rejected. Use form PPSC-6, signed and stamped with the issuer's address and phone.

Government employees: departmental permission

Under Punjab's rules a civil servant may apply only with the written permission of the competent authority. If the permission cannot be had by the closing date, you may send an advance copy of your application; your candidature is then provisional, and is cancelled if permission is refused. PPSC's current advertisement asks in-service candidates to have obtained or applied for the NOC or DPC when they apply, and to produce it at the interview on form PPSC-5 - which also certifies the domicile on your service record and that no disciplinary proceedings are pending.

Why PPSC rejects applications

PPSC's FAQ gives these as its usual grounds of rejection:

  • Fee not paid by the closing date.
  • Under or over the age limit, or no proof of age.
  • Not holding the domicile the post is advertised for.
  • No proof of the qualification, or a qualification not relevant to the post.
  • Experience after the qualification too short, not proved, or not of the kind required.
  • Departmental permission refused.

If PPSC rejects you

PPSC's FAQ allows a representation against a rejection within 7 working days, with no fee. False information, forged certificates or tampered entries lead to disqualification and possible debarment, and a recommendation won by fraud is withdrawn at any stage.

How it works

  1. The checklist opens with PPSC already chosen. Tell it the kind of post - you can still go back and pick another body.
  2. Answer short questions about your domicile, government service, qualification, experience and any quota. Each is a tap, and nothing leaves your device.
  3. You get your own list - every document, original or copy, and how many copies this body asks for - to tick off, print or save as a PDF.
  4. Above it are the risks in your answers: red for a listed reason to reject, amber to check, green to have ready - each with what to do and the official rule.

Common mistakes

  • Bringing a transcript with only a CGPA - PPSC wants marks obtained and total marks, or a percentage certificate.
  • Applying for a domicile after the closing date, or relying on one issued later without the receipt that proves you applied before.
  • Entering a different district in the form from the one on your domicile.
  • A medical certificate from the wrong hospital, or older than three months before the closing date, for a post with physical standards.

Frequently asked questions

Which documents must I bring to a PPSC interview?

Your original CNIC and call-up letter, your original degrees and certificates with marks, your domicile, and - where they apply to you - departmental permission, experience certificates, a medical certificate, a disability certificate and an equivalence certificate. Bring two sets of photocopies for posts up to BS-18.

Can I apply to PPSC if my result is awaited?

No. PPSC does not consider an application when the board or university had not officially declared the result on or before the closing date.

I applied for my domicile before the closing date but got it after. Am I eligible?

Under PPSC's Important Instructions, yes - if you can show documentary proof that you applied before the closing date. Give the application date in the online form, and check that your post's own eligibility criteria do not say otherwise.

Can a married woman apply to PPSC on her husband's domicile?

Yes, until she gets her own, with her husband's domicile certificate and proof of marriage. PPSC's FAQ also asks for her own earlier domicile.

My degree shows only a CGPA. What does PPSC need?

A certificate of marks obtained and total marks, or a percentage certificate, from the university's Controller of Examinations. PPSC does not accept CGPA alone.

What happens if a document is missing at the PPSC interview?

You may be interviewed on an undertaking to produce it within the time PPSC sets - up to 10 working days in its FAQ. If you do not, the candidature is cancelled.

Which medical certificate does PPSC accept?

For a post with physical standards, only one from the Medical Superintendent of a District Headquarters Hospital, Services Hospital Lahore or a Police Hospital, issued within the three months before the closing date and stating every measurement the advertisement asks for.
