NTS, PTS, OTS and ETEA: Documents Required

Testing services run the test; the department that advertised the post checks your documents. Here is what NTS, PTS, OTS and ETEA ask for on test day, what their advertisements say about the rest, and how to read a department's own conditions.

Who checks what

A testing service writes and runs the test for a client department, under terms agreed with it. It does not decide your eligibility: NTS's portal says it bears no responsibility for any job offer, PTS tells candidates to read the job's own terms in the advertisement, and ETEA tests on the demand of a "client organisation".

The department's advertisement sets the qualification, the age limit, the quotas and the documents, and the department checks them. The advertisements on the services' own sites say the same things: you sit the test provisionally on what you declared, the department scrutinises your documents and sees the originals at the interview, a false claim disqualifies you at any stage, you must be eligible in all respects by the last date, and serving government employees apply through proper channel.

Test day, service by service

NTS

The original roll number slip and one original identity document: CNIC or passport; under 18, the original B-form with your Matric (SSC) certificate bearing your photograph; or the original NADRA token slip with another valid government document that has your photograph. Staff match your face to the slip and the ID, and without them you are not permitted to take the test. Disabled candidates are exempted from the NTS fee on a NADRA disability certificate with each application.

PTS

The roll number slip is your identification at the centre, and PTS advises carrying your CNIC; a slip photograph that does not match means no entry. After paying, upload the challan and check that your status shows "Eligible" - uploading the challan alone does not mean the application is accepted. Do not courier documents unless asked.

OTS

OTS publishes no general list of what to bring on test day; its roll number slip is downloaded with your CNIC number. Follow the instructions printed on the slip and carry your original CNIC.

ETEA (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)

The same identity list as NTS: the original roll number slip with an original CNIC, passport, B-form (under 18, with the SSC certificate bearing your photograph) or NADRA token slip with a government photo document. ETEA-run advertisements also ask you to get your CNIC verified at a NADRA E-Sahulat franchise, with a token printed from ETEA's site, before you apply - without it you cannot apply for any post - and say a foreign degree needs an HEC equivalence certificate.

After the test: the department's documents

What happens next is in the advertisement, and it differs between departments even under one testing service. One NTS-run Punjab recruitment wanted a printed form, two photographs and attested copies of the CNIC, domicile, education and experience documents to reach NTS's Lahore office by the last date; a PTS-run Sindh recruitment wanted only the paid fee slip uploaded, with originals checked at the interview. Read your own advertisement's "terms and conditions" for:

  • whether documents are uploaded, posted or brought - and by when;
  • which domicile the post accepts, and the age limit with any relaxation;
  • whether serving employees need an NOC as well as applying through proper channel;
  • whether attested copies are asked for, and how many.

Other testing services

SIBA Testing Services (Sukkur IBA) wants the admit slip with your original CNIC or passport for its recruitment tests, and CTSP publishes the same identity list as NTS. For any testing service, the address printed in the department's own advertisement is the one to trust - pay fees only through the channel it names.

How it works

  1. Choose the testing service on your roll number slip - or the department, if you know what it asks for.
  2. Answer short questions about your domicile, government service, qualification, experience and any quota. Each is a tap, and nothing leaves your device.
  3. You get your own list - every document, original or copy, and how many copies this body asks for - to tick off, print or save as a PDF.
  4. Above it are the risks in your answers: red for a listed reason to reject, amber to check, green to have ready - each with what to do and the official rule.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving the roll number slip for the morning of the test, or bringing a photocopy of the CNIC.
  • Assuming "Eligible" on a testing-service portal means the department has found you eligible - it has not checked your documents yet.
  • Skipping the NADRA E-Sahulat verification for an ETEA post until after paying the fee.
  • Following another department's document list - each advertisement under the same testing service can differ.

Frequently asked questions

Which documents are required for the NTS test?

The original roll number slip and an original CNIC or passport. Under 18: the original B-form with your Matric certificate bearing your photograph. A NADRA token slip is accepted only with another valid government document that has your photograph.

Can I take the NTS test without my CNIC?

Only with another original document NTS accepts - a passport, or a NADRA token slip together with a government photo document. Without the slip and an original ID you are not permitted to take the test.

Do I send documents to NTS or PTS?

Only if the department's advertisement says so. Most projects are online, and the department checks originals at the interview; some ask for printed forms and attested copies by the last date.

What is ETEA's E-Sahulat verification?

ETEA-run advertisements ask you to print a token from ETEA's site and have your CNIC verified at a NADRA E-Sahulat franchise before applying. Without it you cannot apply.

Who checks my documents if NTS runs the test?

The department that advertised the post. The testing service only tests; the department scrutinises documents and sees the originals at the interview.
